Credit ReportsProtecting Your Good Name
Monitoring your credit report is the best way to protect yourself against fraud and loan denials. Under the FACT Act of 2003, you are entitled to one free copy of your credit report per year, from each of the three credit reporting agencies. To obtain your free credit report, go to www.annualcreditreport.com. It's a good idea to space out your requests between the three agencies, so you get one free report every 4 months, rather than all three at once. This way, you're better able to track your credit over the course of a year, without paying for extra reports. If you have questions as you review your report, feel free to set up a meeting with our Financial Coach, Debra Casper. She can help you understand what is on your report.
